Definitions for "Redia"
A kind of larva, or nurse, which is prroduced within the sporocyst of certain trematodes by asexual generation. It in turn produces, in the same way, either another generation of rediƦ, or else cercariƦ within its own body. Called also proscolex, and nurse. See Illustration in Appendix.
An elongated sac with a mouth, muscular pharynx, primitive gut, birth pore, and germinal cells, which may develop into cercariae or daughter rediae (stage within snail host: trematodes).
Trematode stage in the intermediate host which develops from the sporocyst, and which becomes the cercaria. Rediae may have the ability to divide.
