Definitions for "Renfrewshire"
Renfrewshire (Siorrachd Rinn Friù in Gaelic) is one of 32 unitary authority regions in Scotland.
Renfrewshire, officially the County of Renfrew, is a registration county of Scotland. It was also used for administrative purposes as a county of Scotland until 1975, and between 1890 and 1975 it had its own elected county council. From 1975 the county was administrated as part of the newly-created Strathclyde Region.
Renfrewshire was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain from 1708 until 1801 and of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1801 to 1885. In 1885 the Renfrewshire constituency area was divided into two new constituencies: Renfrewshire Eastern and Renfrewshire Western.
