Robert C. Hunter (born June 23, 1941) is an American lyricist, singer songwriter, and poet, best known for his association with Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.

He was named by Time as one of the ten "eco-heroes" of the 20th century and is charged with coining the terms "mindbomb" and "eco-warrior".

In 2006, he rodes for the Phonak Hearing Systems cycling team on the UCI Pro Tour, but after their disbandment he signed for UCI Continental Circuits side, Barloworld for the 2007 season.. His biggest career achievements to date include winning stages at 1999 and 2001 Vuelta a España, the overall title at the 2004 Tour of Qatar, and the sprint classification at the 2004 Tour de Suisse.
