Surviving is a 1985 drama centred around two teenagers Rick (Zach Galligan) and Lonnie (Molly Ringwald) who live in middle class America. Lonnie returns home after recovering from a suicide attempt and develops an intimate relationship with friend Rick, a relationship that is condemned by his family. Attempts to separate them, while unsuccessful, lead to the tragic decision that will ultimately impact on both families.
