Taupo (Māori pronunciation - IPA: ) is a small urban area in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. It is the seat of the Taupo District Council and lies in the Waikato Region.

Taupo is a New Zealand electorate, in the Central North Island, which includes the places of: Acacia Bay; Arapuni; Hikumutu; Kaitieke; Kakahi; Kinloch; Kuratau; Lichfield; Mangakino; Marotiri; Mihi; National Park; Ngakonui; Ngapuke; Ohakune; Okoroire; Omori; Orautoha; Owhango; Puketurua; Putaruru; Raetihi; Rangitaiki; Taupo; Tihoi; Tirohanga; Tokaanu; Tokoroa; Turangi; Wairakei; Waitahanui; Waotu; Whakamaru and Whakapapa Village.
