Tcpdump allows you to dump the traffic on a network. It can be used to print out the headers of packets on a network interface that matches a given expression. You can use this tool to track down network problems, to detect "ping attacks" or to monitor the network activities.
UNIX packet monitoring utility used by the JUNOS software to view information about packets sent or received by the Routing Engine.
It allows the user to intercept and display TCP/IP and other packets being transmitted or received over a network to which the computer is attached. It was originally written by Van Jacobson, Craig Leres and Steven McCanne who were, at the time, working in the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Network Research Group.
