A coating applied to a substrate before it is coated with an adhesive, to improve the adhesion of the plastic. Also called primer. See also - Primer
a primer that produces good bond strength on difficult bonding surfaces
material used to improve adhesion of materials, typically photoresist to the substrate in a photolithographic processes. Some metals are also used to promote adhesion of subsequent layers.
Material used to improve adhesion between materials. May be used in two different modes: by pre-treatment of a substrate, and as a component in coating formulation capable of enhancing adhesion durability due to the improvement in substrate wetting and formation of chemical bonds across the film/substrate interface. Syn. Bonding agent
Adhesion promoters act at the interface to increase the adhesion between two substrates through the reduction of the interfacial tension. When the adhesion promotor is used to increase adhesion between two incompatible polymers it is also called a Compatibilizer. When the adhesion promotor is used to increase adhesion between a polymer and a filler it is called a coupling agent. Compatibilizers or coupling agents can be reactive or non reactive. Syn. Bonding agent. For more information, Visit our Adhesion Promoters Center.
additive for Types O and P inks to help adherence to certain substrates.
Materials used to improve a coating or adhesive's ability to withstand mechanical separation from a substrate; to improve a system's adhesive strength.
