One of the two divisions (suborder) of Primates containing the old world monkeys and apes (extinct and extant). The other division is Platyrrhini (new world monkeys).

Catarrhini is the infraorder of the Old World monkeys, apes, and hominids. Along with the geographical distinction, catarrhines can be distinguished from platyrrhines by their narrow nose shape, fewer premolar teeth, and lack of a prehensile tail.
