Any set of values used in a variable in a data file, and intended to serve as a translation table or to interpret a controlled set of symbols into a natural language such as English, is considered a "code set". Such sets of value pairs (code, and interpretation of code) are installed in CEDR as Structured Documentation rather than as another data file.
a code set is any set of codes used for encoding data elements, such as tables of terms, medical concepts, medical diagnosis codes, or medical procedure codes. An example of international code set is LOINCTM (Logical Observation Identifier Names and Codes)
a collection of unambiguous rules that establishes a character set and the one-to-one relationship between each character of the set and its bit representation or numeric value
a mapping of the members of a character set to specific numeric code values
a numerical representation for a set of symbols (known as a character set)
an abbreviation for coded character set.
A set of unique integers. SGML defines this as a set of bit combinations of equal size. .
Under HIPAA, this is any set of codes used to encode data elements.
Encoding values for a character set that provides the interface between the system and its input and output devices. ISO uses code set as the term equivalent to the IBM-defined term code page.
