An aspect configuration in which four planets form four squares and two oppositions in the chart. This configuration shows inner power and strength, and where and what will intensely challenge them to be developed.
A group of 4 or more planets in a cross shaped pattern, where planets are either directly opposite each other along the zodiac ( oppositions) or 90 degrees apart ( squares). A very dynamic, but stressful pattern that often "runs away" from the person unless they have some way of grounding the energy.
a chart of chaos, but it seems to me having Jupiter at the bottom of the chart, helped protect the building
a highly dynamic configuration
A configuration in which four planets form mutual squares. It creates much tension.
An aspect configuration in which four planets form four squares and two oppositions in the chart, thus creating the shape of a cross. This configuration gives ambition and drive but may also lead to compulsions. This configuration is most associated with the ability to accomplish, especially if in the cardinal signs.
An aspect configuration in which four planets, each in a different sign of the same quadruplicity, form mutual squares. Much tension is generated among planets forming this pattern. If signs are mixed (aspects within orb but not in signs of the same quadruplicity), the impact associated with a grand square is somewhat diminished.
Two sets of oppositions at right angles to each other. An aspect representing very difficult energy. It creates frustration, anger, stress, intensity and the feeling of always being on a treadmill. It promotes self-growth and endurance.
The phrase grand cross is used to denote the highest grade in many orders of knighthood. Sometimes the knights (and dames) of the highest grade are called "knights grand cross" or "dames grand cross"; in other cases the actual insignia itself is called "the grand cross." Please see Order (decoration) for links to individual orders.
In astrology, a grand cross is said to occur when four planets are all separated from each other by square aspects (90 degrees apart). A grand cross can also be viewed as two oppositions (180 degrees apart) separated from each other by a square. In a grand cross, there is one planet in each astrological element (fire, earth, air and water) but all the planets are in signs of the same modality or quality.
