Before launching his solo career in 1990, James Hall was the singer for Atlanta band, Mary My Hope, which released one full-length album entitled Museum in 1989 and one EP, 1990's Suicide Kings, both on RCA/Silvertone. An expanded version of Suicide Kings appeared at the same time, called Monster Is Bigger Than The Man. This contained, in addition to the unreleased material and Museum album cuts, two live tracks recorded at the Princess Charlotte in Leicester (UK).

Hall started his career in 2005 playing for Ireland's Under-17s team in Division One of the European Under-17 Championship, though after playing three matches in this competition, he moved up to the Under-19s, for whom he later played in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
James H. Hall was a Thomas Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, at the University of Richmond from 1965 until his retirement in May, 2005. His philosophical interests include: 20th Century analytic philosophy, epistemology, philosophy of religion, and logical empiricism.
