Monoamine Oxidase. A flavin-containing enzyme located on the outer membrane of the mitochondria. There are two forms of monoamine oxidase (MAO A and MAO B), both of which are involved in the Phase I biotransformation of certain drugs.

Maximum Acceptable Outage. The MAO is the time it will take before a business interruption event threatens an organisation achieving its business objectives. The MAO defines the maximum time an organisation can survive without key business functions before business continuity plans and recovery procedures must commence.
