Definitions for "Reasonable Accommodations"
Structural or procedural modifications that will remove barriers which prohibit a qualified applicant or employee with a disability from enjoying the same rights and privileges as those who are not disabled. Such modifications may be in, but are not limited to, three forms 1) modification of a particular job assignment that will enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform the essential function of the job without causing undue hardship to the University. 2) modifications that will allow employees with disabilities equal access to all privileges and benefits of employment 3) modification to the employment process that will allow applicants with disabilities equal opportunity to apply for jobs.
Under the ADA, reasonable adjustments, modifications or provision of services and equipment necessary to enable an individual with a disability to enjoy equal opportunities in employment. The term is routinely used to include accommodations needed under other circumstances such as those administering public programs or providing private service.
Adjustments in work methods, environment, or equipment to allow a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of their job.
