An eight bit field in the ATM cell header which indicates the virtual path over which the cell is to be routed. WAN (wide area network) A network that spans a large geographic area relative to office and campus environment of a LAN (local area network). WANs are characterized by having much greater transfer delays due to signal propagation delays. XDF (Xrm Decrease Factor) An ABR service parameter, XDF controls the decrease in ACR associated with Xrm. The range is 0 or 1.

virtual path identifier. A section of the ATM cell header that contains the virtual path address over which the cell is to be routed.
virtual path identifier. The identifier code used with the virtual circuit identifier for routing ATM cells.
See virtual path identifier (VPI).
An acronym for a Virtual Path Identifier.
Virtual path identifier in an ATM network.
Virtual Path Identifier (identificateur de conduit virtuel)
virtual path identifier. See virtual channel identifier (VCI).
This is the address of a virtual path corresponding to a connection on an ATM Network.
Virtual Path Identifier. VCI in ETSI version of ATM.
virtual packet identifier
(Virtual Path Identifier): A virtual path determines the way an ATM cell should be routed. The VPI is an 8-bit (in UNI) or 12-bit (in NNI) number that is included in the header of an ATM cell.
virtual path identifier. 8-bit field in the header of an ATM cell. The VPI, together with the VCI, is used to identify the next destination of a cell as it passes through a series of ATM switches on its way to its destination. ATM switches use the VPI/VCI fields to identify the next VCL that a cell needs to transit on its way to its final destination. The function of the VPI is similar to that of the DLCI in Frame Relay. Compare with DLCI. See also VCI and VCL.
In ATM, the portion of a cell header that identifies the virtual path to which the cell belongs. Virtual paths are defined to permit groups of virtual channels to be manipulated as if they were a single channel.
Virtual path identifier. Identifier contained in the ATM cell header to designate the virtual path on the physical ATM link.
Virtual path identifier. An 8-bit field in the header of an ATM cell that indicates the virtual path the cell takes. See also VCI.
