Definitions for "Above the Market"
Identification of an order to sell a security at a price that is greater than the present lowest offering price for that security in a particular marketplace. For example, if the present lowest offering price for a security is $10 per share, an offer at $12 is above the market.
A limit order to buy or sell a security for a specified price that is higher than the current market price. If the market does not reach the specified price, the order will go unfilled.
