Definitions for "Absolute Map Accuracy"
The accuracy of a map in relationship to the earth's geoid. The accuracy of locations on a map that are defined relative to the earth's geoid are considered absolute because their positions are global in nature and accurately fix a location that can be referenced to all other locations on the earth.
The degree to which objects on a map are positioned at their true ground locations relative to a coordinate system, such as geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) (see Relative Map Accuracy).
