Heart disease resulting from disease of the lungs and blood vessels in the lungs. This is due to resistance to the passage of blood through the lungs.
Condition of right ventricular hypertrophy and failure that results from long-standing pulmonary hypertension.
Enlargement of the right ventricle of the heart due to resistance to the passage of blood through the lungs. Can often lead to right heart failure. This can be a major complication of chronic pulmonary diseases such as CF.
enlargement of the right ventricle of the heart due to disease of the lungs or of the pulmonary blood vessels
Heart disease that results from resistance to the passage of blood through the lungs; it often leads to right heart failure.
A disease of the heart characterized by enlargement of the right ventricle. It is caused by increased resistance to blood flow through the lung and can occur in severe lung disease and lead to heart failure.
enlargement of the right side of the heart. Cor pulmonale weakens the heart and causes increased shortness of breath and swelling in the feet and legs. Patients who have chronic COPD with low oxygen levels may develop this condition.
Heart disease due to lung problems.
Heart disease due to resistance to the passage of blood through the lungs; it often leads to right heart failure.
Heart disease caused by impairment of blood flow through the lungs. Ultimately can cause failure of the right ventricle among other problems.
enlargement of the right ventricle resulting from pulmonary hypertension secondary to lung disorders.
Enlargement and eventual failure of the right ventricle of the heart. Cor pulmonale is caused by lung disease. When a lung disease, such as emphysema, destroys lung blood vessels, the right side of the heart must exert more effort to pump blood into the lungs. Eventually, the right ventricle fails.
Right-sided heart failure which can occur after serious lung disease, such as in persons with cystic fibrosis.
right-sided heart failure. The right ventricle becomes hypertrophied and dilated due to the back pressure within the pulmonary blood circuit created by diseased lungs.
hypertrophy of the right ventricle of the heart resulting from excessive pressure in the pulmonary artery
Right ventricular failure due to chronic respiratory problems
Cor pulmonale is a medical term used to describe a change in structure and function of the right ventricle of the heart as a result of a respiratory disorder. RVH (right ventricular hypertrophy) is the predominant change in chronic cor pulmonale, however in acute cases dilation dominates. Both hypertrophy and dilation are the result of increased right ventricular pressure.
