A play which forces a particular opponent to win a trick, so that that opponent must later make a favorable lead. The player so forced to win is said to be "endplayed".
(1) (verb) force an opponent to lead disadvantageously;(2) (noun) the position of the cards so resulting.
put a player on lead when he's forced to give up a trick. Short for "strip and endplay." Also: throw-in.
