Fierce.
Federal Employees Retirement System, covering employees "first employed in the Federal Government on or after January 1, 1984, and those reemployed after January 1, 1984" who did not qualify for the CSRS-Offset. These employees contribute to Social Security and to the FERS fund. Voluntary retirement eligibility with unreduced benefits is age 62 with 5 years of service, age 60 with 20 years of service, or minimum retirement age (ranges from age 55-57 depending on year of birth) and 30 years of service.
