Definitions for "INFRARED FILM"
Film which is highly sensitive to red/near infrared radiation. A red filter should be used to get the best effect with this film.
Refers to films that are capable of capturing EM radiation in the near infrared region of the spectrum (roughly 700 - 900nm). These films are particularly useful in extending the capabilities of the human eye, which is not capable of sensing wavelengths beyond approximately 680nm.
Infrared energy is not visible to the naked eye, but can be recorded on infrared film. Best used with an infrared filter (if you can find one) or a Red 25 filter. Because infrared film is not visible to the eye (or light meter) exposure is estimated. Read the instructions with the film regarding special handling during film loading. Because infrared light focuses at a different point, an adjustment is needed to allow for the difference. Produces some interesting effects.
