Any of several malignant neoplasms (usually of the skin) consisting of melanocytes; called also melanoma. It is classed as a type of skin cancer.
a usually dark, malignant tumor of the skin; contains melanin
Cancer of the melanocytes, the cells that produce pigment in the skin. Most common in people with fair skin, but can occur in all races. Appears as a dark, mole-like spot that spreads and, unlike a mole, has an irregular border. Tendency toward melanoma may be inherited, and risk increases with overexposure to the sun and sunburn. Fair-skinned people and people with a family history of melanoma should always use a high-SPF sunscreen when outdoors. Detected early, melanoma is almost always treatable, but undetected melanoma can spread and become fatal.
A type of cancer that begins in the melanocytes of the epidermis. It is the most serious form of skin cancer.
A malignancy of melanocytes, almost always arising in skin.

a cancerous growth which occurs in the melanocytes (pigment cells) of the skin
a rare, but sometimes deadly, skin cancer, arising from melanocytes (pigments cells). It may begin as a mole that turns cancerous or start as a cancer in previously normal skin.
The rarest, although deadliest form of skin cancer.
Malignant tumor composed of melanin producing cells (melanocytes) arising in the skin and rarely in other sites.
Malignant cancer of melanocytes. Usually has an irregular outline and patchy colouring. Rarest but most dangerous type of skin cancer that often spreads to other organs (metastasizes).
A potentially fatal form of skin cancer. Psoriasis patients receiving PUVA should be carefully screened for this, even after they have finished their therapy; usually treatable when detected early.
