Polyphemus (Greek: Πολύφημος, transliterated as Polyphemos in Robert Fitzgerald's translation), a character in Greek mythology, is a Cyclops, the one-eyed son of Poseidon and Thoosa. Polyphemus plays a pivotal role in Homer's Odyssey.
A very large American moth (Telea polyphemus) belonging to the Silkworm family (Bombycidæ). Its larva, which is very large, bright green, with silvery tubercles, and with oblique white stripes on the sides, feeds on the oak, chestnut, willow, cherry, apple, and other trees. It produces a large amount of strong silk. Called also American silkworm.
Polyphemus is a collection of Science fiction, fantasy and horror stories by author Michael Shea. It was released in 1987 by Arkham House . It was published in an edition of 3,528 copies and was the author's first hardcover book.
