Rockbox ( http://www.rockbox.org/) is a project similar to iPodLinux, originally for Archos ( http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DeviceChart#Archos_Jukebox_units), then also for iRiver ( http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DeviceChart#iriver_units) and now more recently even for iPods ( http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DeviceChart#Apple_units). A project to support iAudio X5 ( http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IaudioPort) has also been launched. Rockbox does not use Linux but rather their own customised open source firmware.
Rockbox is a free software replacement firmware for digital audio players (DAPs). It is released under the GNU General Public License.
