RWD was a Polish aircraft construction bureau in the late 1920s and 1930s. It started as a team of three young designers, Stanisław Rogalski, Stanisław Wigura and Jerzy Drzewiecki, whose names formed the RWD acronym.

Rossby Wave Dispersion. A property of Rossby waves because their phase speed depends on wavenumber (i.e., they are dispersive). Thus, the shape of a group of Rossby waves will not remain constant as the waves propagate since individual waves can reinforce or cancel each other. The speed of the wave group is given by the group velocity.
