(transurethral microwave thermotherapy): Destroys excess prostate tissue interfering with the exit of urine from the body by using a probe in the urethra to deliver microwaves.

In transurethral microwave therapy (TUMT), microwave energy is applied to the prostate tissue. This kills off the diseased tissue and reduces the sensitivity of the bladder exit. This form of therapy is also effective for chronic inflammation (= Further information).
