Definitions for "bradykinin"
a hypotensive tissue hormone (C50H73N15O11) which acts on smooth muscle, dilates peripheral vessels and increases capillary permeability. It is formed locally in injured tissue and is believed to play a role in the inflammatory process. It is a nonapeptide with the sequence: Arg-Pro-Pro-Gly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg.
Chain of nine amino acids; it is a powerful vasodilator that causes increased permeability. It constricts smooth muscle and stimulates pain receptors.
Large peptide formed by the action of proteases on kininogens that exerts an effect on blood vessels. Bradykinin is a very potent vasodilator and increases permeability of small vessels. It also causes spasms in some smooth muscles, generating pain.
