One of the three NAEP achievement levels, representing solid academic performance for each grade assessed. Students reaching this level have demonstrated competency over challenging subject matter, including subject-matter knowledge, application of such knowledge to real-world situations, and analytical skills appropriate to the subject matter. An advanced level of language proficiency in which students draw from a very broad range of vocabulary, sentence structures, and verb tenses; at this level of proficiency, students can communicate almost any idea or thought in the target language that than can communicate in their native language.
