Calling Line Identity or more commonly referred to as caller id.
Call Line Identification. A CLI-enabled phone will show the phone number of incoming calls on the handset's display, provided the mobile network (e.g., Orange, One2One, BT Cellnet, Vodafone or Virgin Mobile) supports this function.
See Call Line Identification (CLI).
A supplementary service available in digital phone networks that allows the caller's number to be displayed on the mobile terminal display. The call management center achieves this by using equipment that identifies the caller's telephone number and sends it to the subscriber in addition to the call.
Calling Line Identity. (Presentation / Restriction) CLI refers to the phone number of a subscriber who will originate a call in the network. Another name for CLI is the Calling Party Number / Calling Party Address.
An interface that allows the user to interact with the operating system by entering commands and optional arguments. The UNIX operating system and DOS provide CLIs.
(Caller Line Identification) - a process whereby on receiving an incoming telephone call the phone number of the caller is identified. This can be linked to information held on the computer system about the caller, which may be summoned up on receipt of the call (see CTI).
The ability to access, configure and control a system using typed commands instead of using a point-and-click graphical user interface. Originally developed to control computer systems using a character-based terminal interface, CLI is more suggestive of a sophisticated and technical interface. Novice users generally find it more difficult to learn and use, while advanced users find it more powerful and flexible than a graphical interface.
a user interface in which you type commands instead of choosing them from a menu or selecting an icon
CLI allows a called number to access the number of the telephone line making the call. The number is carried through the telephone network for possible display or use by the organisation being called. This means that a company can pick up the phone and greet their caller straight away, or ignore unwanted calls
Calling line identity. This allows the caller's telephone number to be displayed when the call is received. This helps the agent identify the caller.
Displaying the caller's telephone number.
command line interface. The set of commands that can be executed directly from the operating system's command shell.
Command Line Interface. A single threaded command line approach that often uses little or no visual effects to capture user input. The DOS prompt is probably the most known CLI. CLI is often still used in servers because it is more direct and doesn't require the graphics processing overhead that a GUI has.
Common Language Infrastructure. A standard in which applications written in multiple high level languages may be executed in different system environments without the need to rewrite the application. UrbanSim is an example of a CLI. Alternatively, a Command Line Interface.
Command Line Interface. A CLI defines the invocation syntax for command line based utilities.
Underlying command line interface commands used by the CXFS Manager graphical user interface (GUI) and the cmgr command.
Caller Line Identification shows your telephone number to the person you are dialling. 1471, for example, uses CLI to recognise the last person to call you. You must enable CLI for BTopenworld Pay As You Go and Surf connections.
ommand ine nterface, a program that will accept and execute typed in commands. See also "Conventions" on page 11.
A service available on digital phone networks that tells the person being called which number is calling them. The central office equipment identifies the phone number of the caller, enabling information about the caller to be sent along with the call itself. Synonymous with ANI (Automatic Number Identification).
Calling Line Identity. The network will transmit the telephone number of the call originator to the recipient.
Calling Line Identity - The ability to be able to identify the telephone number of inbound calls
command line interface. A line-based (as opposed to a screen-based) interface between the user and an application.
Caller Line Identification. A facility where the incoming call provides the telephone number it is dialling from. Known as Caller ID in the States.
The command line interface for administering the WLSE. You use the CLI through a console attached to the WLSE's console port or by opening a Telnet connection to the WLSE. CLI commands are described in the User Guide for the CiscoWorks Wireless LAN Solution Engine - from the online help, click PDF.
A command line interface or CLI is a method of interacting with a computer by giving it lines of textual commands (that is, a sequence of characters) either from keyboard input or from a script.
Calling Line Identity - number identifying the caller
Also Known As: Call Line Identification; Caller ID Definition: A network service that displays the caller's number on the screen of the phone receiving the call.
Call Line Identity/Identification
Calling Line Identity. The term used to describe the feature whereby the telephone number of a calling party is presented to the equipment of the called party.
Caller Line Identity. This is the telephone number of the person who initiated the call. This can be withheld by the caller. Outbound calls from a call centre should display CLI to enable consumers to be confident of the callers source. Inbound calls to a call centre can use CLI in conjunction with a customer database to screen pop. CLI is often lost when calls are routed between different networks (especially in international transit).
Command Line Interface. A set of line commands used to configure the system. For more information on using the CLI, see Using the CLI.
command-line interface. A text-based user interface to an operating system. A command-line interface is a user interface to a computer operating system or an application in which the user responds to a visual prompt by typing a command on a specified line, receives a response from the system, and then enters another command, and so forth. Typically, most of the UNIX-based systems today offer both a command-line interface and graphical user interface (GUI). See also GUI.
AmigaDOS Command Line Interface for accessing DOS.

Caller Line Identification. Service that allows customers to see the number from which someone is calling them before they answer.
Caller Line Identification. Service that allows a customer to see the number of the caller before answering the call.
Command Line Interpreter. The basic Cisco IOS configuration and management interface.
command line interface. A text based interface where the user enters commands at a prompt (such as a DOS prompt). The initial user command is interactive, but the interface can be manipulated into a batch processing mode.
Calling Line Id. Calling line identifies itself to the device being called

Abbreviation for command line interface.
Calling Line Identity. A number representing the originator of a call. There are two types of CLI, a Network CLI is used by network operators to identify the source of the call. It is available whether or not the caller is ex-directory but is never passed on to the called party. The user CLI is passed on to the called party, providing that the caller has not withheld it. By default it is the same as the network CLI but can be changed by the caller's equipment. For example in a firm a salesman might want his direct dial number to go out but the Managing Director might want his secretary's number to go out when he makes a call. CLI is used for the "1471" service where you dial 1471 to find out who called and can also be used to display the number on a phone or computer. CLI is not available on some networks (particularly from overseas) and is usually an optional feature from the network provider (the subscriber has to pay to receive it).
The Cisco IOS Command-Line Interface. The CLI is the primary user interface for entering Cisco IOS commands on Cisco devices (such as routers).
Command-line interface. Interface provided for configuring and monitoring the routing protocol software.
