Sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal, oral) or other sexual contact forced by one person upon another using physical force, threat, or coercion. Although this term is included in a list of sexual practices, rape can be considered a form of violence rather than a form of sex.

Rape is a poem by Adrienne Rich. Rape describes the plight of a woman who has been raped forced to seek justice from a callous and patronizing male-dominated world. As in many of Rich's poems, Rape highlights the struggle of women against sexism and its sometimes cruel consequences, and can be seen as an effort to call women to action.
