Or Registration. Determines which hosts are available for tasks (that is, which hosts have a daemon running). Also determines what depots are on a given host. Registration information consists of the depot or root's identifier (its path in the host file system). This information is maintained by the daemon which reads its own file at startup.
There are a number of disease registers in the UK that keep a record of the number of people with particular conditions. These registers can serve different purposes, for example, ensuring people with the condition are followed up and treated and helping us to understand more about these conditions and how they affect people. There are different registers that collect slightly different information about different conditions. One of the tasks of the Programme Centre is to develop and maintain national registers for conditions that are screened for in newborn blood spot screening.
The SFA maintains a number of registers denoting the role/status of individuals. There are registers of directors, partners, managers, representatives and traders.
The Registers are a mini-storage area for data used by the Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) to complete the tasks the Control Unit has requested. The data can come from the data cache, main memory or the control unit and are all stored at special locations within the Registers. This makes retrieval for the ALU quick and efficient.
A term to describe the tiny regions of memory used internally by microprocessors for storage of data and execution of instructions.  Registers are, by far, the fastest memory on the entire computer system and actually define the system capabilities (a microprocessor with 32-bit wide registers is "better" than one with 16-bit wide registers.)
Very high speed memory used by the central processing unit.
Hardware registers. Most of these are directly accessible by the debugger through symbolic names (for example, fr0). Many registers have special meaning; some cannot be modified by the debugger user. Actual modification of hardware registers should not normally be necessary while debugging. Correct program execution depends highly on registers and their contents.
A set of books kept in the Senate and House offices setting out by title all bills received in each house, with each action posted daily by register clerks. By the close of each session, the complete history of each bill is thus available chronologically. These registers become part of the archives.
