The value returned by a function.
The value that results as the output of a function or the evaluation of an expression.
All Perl functions return a value when they are finished. The return value is the value of the last executed statement or you can use the return() to explicitly state it. You may always choose to ignore the return value by not assigning the function call to a variable.
A scalar returned by a function that does not have type void.
