Specified Low-Income Beneficiary - a program that provides for premium and/or cost-sharing assistance to Medicare beneficiaries, paid for by Medicaid.
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary. A Medicare beneficiary who is not eligible for the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary program but may still be eligible for financial assistance. The SLMB program is designed for beneficiaries whose income is slightly higher than the national poverty level. The SLMB program pays the monthly Part B (doctor insurance) premiums; however, it does not cover the deductible, co-payments or services not covered by Medicare.
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary. A Medicare Savings Program that pays for Medicare Part B premiums. To qualify, you must: Be eligible for Medicare Part A and Part B, Have countable income less than 120% of the Federal Poverty Level (in 2006, $980 per month for individuals, $1,320 for couples), Have assets at or below the limit ($4,000 for individuals, $6,000 for couples), and Meet all other Medi-Cal eligibility requirements.
Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMB) are those entitled to Medicare Part A whose income is between 100% and 120% of the federal poverty level (FPL), whose assets value does not exceed twice the limit for SSI eligibility, and who are not eligible for full Medicaid. Medicaid pays Medicare Part B premiums.
