Definitions for "1 Esdras"
an Apocryphal book consisting of a compilation from Chronicles and Ezra and Nehemiah
In the Septuagint, for Eastern Orthodox Christians, 1 Esdras refers to a book which is considered a deuterocanonical book of the old testament for Eastern Orthodoxy, but rejected as apocryphal by Jews, Catholics, and most Protestants. In large part it parallels the action of Ezra-Nehemiah, and the Books of Chronicles, with some sections being translations of those books.
