Absence without prior approval of supervisory staff or failure to inform supervisory staff and receive approval for an absence constitutes Absence Without Approved Leave. Absence Without Approved Leave is always unpaid. Absence Without Approved Leave may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Absence without prior approval from a supervisor or failure to inform a supervisor regarding an absence. Being absent without approved leave may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or may be considered job abandonment. An employee may be terminated for being absent without approved leave two or more times in a 12-month period, or if he or she has exhibited a pattern of being absent without approved leave.
