A 32-bit value that specifies the rights that are allowed or denied in an access control entry (ACE). An access mask is also used to request access rights when an object is opened. See also access control entry.
access mask - In Windows-based systems, a value that specifies the permissions that are allowed or denied in an access control entry of an access control list. The access mask is also used in an access request to specify the access permissions that the subject requires when accessing an object.
Electronic alarm masking suppresses the annunciation of an alarm condition that would have been reported in the secure mode of operation. Masking does not block the reporting ability of tam-per or fault conditions that may not be seen when alarm shunting is used.
