Definitions for "Asci"
ASCI (Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative) is an initiative of Defense Programs at the U.S. Department of Energy, in collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories. The ASCI Project aims at verifying the safety, reliability, and performance of the U.S. nuclear stockpile by shifting from nuclear test based methods to computer simulations based methods. ASCI has evolved into DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration's Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) Program.
Accelerated Scientific Computing Initiative
Accelerated Strategic Computer Initiative. A massive funding project in the USA concerning research and production of high-performance systems. The main motivation is said to be the management of the USA nuclear stockpile by computational modeling instead of actual testing.
