Cipher text is also known as encryption text. Plain text is what you have before encryption, and cipher text is the encrypted result. The term cipher is sometimes used as a synonym for cipher text, but it more properly means the method of encryption rather than the result.
The output of an encryption algorithm, which is the encrypted version of a message or data.
Also referred to as encrypted data, cipher text is protected during the email process. When it safely reaches the intended recipient, it can be easily decrypted using a special, private "key" and viewed as plain text.
