Definitions for "Jackstay"
A rail of wood or iron stretching along a yard of a vessel, to which the sails are fastened.
Steel rod or railing mounted close to a spar, the hull, or a bulkhead specifically as a handhold for crew use, also handy for belaying.
The iron rod bolted clear of the main mast, to which the luff of the mainsail is shackled or laced.
