A double-reed instrument made of a flared wooden pipe. It is played throughout Asia minor, the Middle-East and North Africa. A mizmar is the Egyptian variant. Its sound is somewhat harsher and brassier sounding than a European oboe, and it is approximately as loud as a trumpet. This is an outdoor instrument.
