a breeding experiment that uses parental varieties differing in a single character
(MON-oh-HY-brid) A cross between two parental varieties differing in only one trait. Example Bb x BB- one trait for a Black coat.
hybridization using a single trait with two alleles (as in Mendel's experiments with garden peas)
a cross dealing with only one characteristic (height for example)
a cross in which the breeder starts out with parents that are true breeding for alternate forms of a characteristic, for example flower color
a genetic cross where only one gene/trait is being studied
a mating of monohybrid parents
In genetics, a cross that involves only one characteristic. PICTURE
the graphing of only one trait in a Punnett Square, used for predicting heredity.
a cross of an organism dealing with only one characteristic.
A cross between two individuals identically heterozygous at one gene pair for example, / ¡Á /.
breeding experiment in which parents differ in only one genetically determined trait.
Mating individuals that are heterozygous (hybrid) at one loci.
mating individuals for a single particular gene, or study only one trait
Monohybrid inheritance is the inheritance of a single characteristic. The different forms of the characteristic are usually controlled by different alleles of the same gene. For example, a monohybrid cross between two pure-breeding plants (homozygous for their respective traits), one with yellow seeds and one with green seeds, would be expected to produce an F1 (first) generation with only yellow seeds because the allele for yellow seeds is dominant to that of green.
