Definitions for "Sieving"
A procedure to sort particle sizes by forcing the particles through a series of openings or pores.
A process that occurs in fabric filters whereby the dust cake, which has accumulated on the fabric surface, acts as a filter for collecting particles.
A process for classifying rubber particles. Gradations are usually expressed in terms of total percent passing or retained. The percent passing indicates the total percent of rubber that will pass each given sieve size. The total percent retained is the opposite of percent passing or the total percent passing each given sieve.
The process of removing sold and semi-sold impurities from a liquid coating by use of a sieve, usually vibrating to minimise blockages. Whilst very useful, especially in decorative paints for preventing dried pieces of coating passing into the filing machine, it does not remove very small impurities, which can block industrial spray guns or cause coating breakdown in very thin films (e.g. can coatings).
