The use of a device to measure the pressure in the eye. There are two types of tonometry: Air Puff: This is the only type of tonometry that does not touch the surface of the eye. The patient sits facing the instrument, and a warm puff of air is directed at the eye. Applanation: The patient's eye is first treated with numbing drops and a stain called fluorescein. The tonometer is then placed gently on the cornea, and a very small amount of pressure is applied to the cornea. The patient may sit in front of the tonometer or a hand-held tonometer may be used.
A diagnostic technique that measures IOP by exerting pressure on the eye and evaluating resistance to the pressure; originally performed with a Schiotz tonometer; more commonly performed today with an applanation tonometer.
The measurement of the tension or pressure inside the eyeball.
Computerized measure of internal eye pressure-glaucoma screening. A tonometer detects glaucoma by measuring the internal pressure of the eye with a puff of air.
Measurement of the intraocular pressure of the eye using a tonometer to check for the condition of glaucoma. After a local anesthetic is applied, the physician places the tonometer lightly upon the eyeball and a pressure measurement is taken. Generally part of a normal eye exam for adults.
A test that measures the internal fluid pressure within the eye. Increased fluid pressure is an indicator in the diagnosis of glaucoma.
Testing of the level of the intraocular pressure with a tonometer.
Included in the slit-lamp examination will be the measurement of your intra-ocular pressure. This will exclude glaucoma, a disease of the eye which causes decreased vision and loss of visual field. LASIK will not help these patients.
a standard test to measure fluid pressure inside the eye
a common method used to measure IOP
This test measures the pressure within the eyes, and is used as a glaucoma screening test.
The procedure used to measure the pressure within the eye; is useful in detecting glaucoma.
test to measure intraocular pressure for glaucoma.

An instrument that measures the pressure inside your eye. Numbing drops may be applied to your eye during this test.
The standard to determine the fluid pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure).
a standard eye test that determines the fluid pressure inside the eye. Elevated pressure is a possible sign of glaucoma. (Ref: Contact Lens Council)
A test for measuring ocular tension, used to detect the absence or presence of glaucoma.
The use of a tonometer to measure the fluid pressure in your eye.
a procedure for the measurement of intraocular pressure. One of the tests for glaucoma
