An x-ray study of the lymphatic system. A dye is injected into a lymphatic vessel and travels throughout the lymphatic system. The dye outlines the lymphatic vessels and organs on the x-ray.
is the procedure whereby the lymphatic channels and glands can be rendered visible on X-ray film by means of an injection of a radio-opaque substance Mediastinum is the space in the chest cavity behind the breast bone and in between the two lungs Staging laparotomy is a surgical examination of abdominal contents together with splenectomy (removal of the spleen to assess for splenic involvement)
Special X-ray examination of the lymph vessels. A special type of contrast medium is injected directly into a lymph vessel e.g. on the back of the foot. Since lymph vessels are very thin, a strong blue colour is injected first to visualise lymph vessels close to the skin surface so that the radiologist will know where to inject the contrast medium.
