Fearful awareness, devoutness; from the verb waqâ, to guard, preserve, shield, shelter, protect, prevent (a danger).
piety, "God-consciousness." Taqwa involves constant awareness and remembrance of Allah, and conscious efforts to adhere to His commandments and abstain from whatever He has forbidden.
The love and fear that a Muslim feels for Allah, which drives him / her to avoid things that displeases Him.
Fearing Allah as He should be feared. A major sign of being a faithful Muslim. See Qur'an, Aali 'Imran (3:102-103), Al-Hashr (59:18-19).
Taqwa is acting in obedience to Allaah, hoping for His mercy upon light from Him and Taqwa is leaving acts of disobedience, out of fear of Him, upon light from Him.
Piety, Allah-consciousness.
tuck-waa]: Condition of piety and God-consciousness that all Muslims aspire to achieve or maintain. It can be said that oneâ€(tm)s taqwa is a measure of oneâ€(tm)s faith and commitment to God.
the love and fear that a Muslim feels for Allah. A person with taqwa desires to be in the good pleasures of Allah and to stay away from those things that would displease Allah. He is careful not to go beyond the bouds and limits set by Allah.
Consciousness or fear of God.
Taqwa is the Islamic concept of "God-consciousness." Having taqwa allows a person to be constantly aware of both God's omnipresence and attributes and a reminder of their relationship and responsibility to God as his creation and servant. The scholars explain that the way to taqwa is through obedience of God, avoiding disobedience, and striving to stay away from doubtful matters (Islam itself is translated as "submission.")
