Broadband wireless access, a broadband wireless point-tomultipointcommunications service that operates in the2GHz to 60GHz frequency spectrum band. It is optimized toprovide high-speed services such as voice, data and videoaccess over the ¡°last mile¡± as an alternative access networktechnology that connects subscribers to an operator¡¯s localexchange.
Broadband Wireless Access. Any of the technologies aimed at providing wireless access to data networks, with high data rates. From the point of view of connectivity, broadband wireless access is equivalent to broadband wired access, such as asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) or cable modems. Examples of BWA are local multipoint distribution services (LMDS), multichannel multipoint distribution service (MMDS), and IEEE 802.16.
