Definitions for "Circuit judge"
A judge who traveled from town to town to set up temporary court. Many places in the American west were thinly populated, with large distances between towns. It was easier for the judge to travel than it was for farmers or ranchers to be away from their work for several weeks to go to the nearest court.
A judge who normally sits in the county court and/or Crown Court.
A judge who presides over (is in charge of) cases in the Crown Court and county courts.
