Established concentration of a substance that, if not exceeded, will not normally result in adverse effects to persons who are exposed
Limit set to minimise occupational exposure to a hazardous substance
The limit allowed to the Broker by the Exchange or to the customer by broker. It is the total value upto which one is allowed to hold open positions at any point of time.
A maximum limit of exposure to an air contaminant. Three types of limits in common use are: Exposure Limit - TWA - The time-weighted average concentration for a normal 8-hour work day or 40-hour work week to which nearly all workers can be repeatly exposed without adverse effects. Exposure Limit - STEL - The short-term exposure limit, i.e. the maximum concentration to which workers can be periodically exposed for a period up to 15 minutes without suffering from irritation, chronic or irreversible tissue change, or narcosis of sufficient degree to increase accident proneness, or impair ability for self-rescue. Exposure Limit - - The ceiling concentration of an airborne substance that must not be exceeded at any time. This limit is applied to substances that are predominantly irritant or fast-acting and for which the TWA is inappropriate.
