A sort of strong beer, originally made in Brunswick, Germany.
is a kind of beer originally imported from Brunswick during the 17th and 18th centuries ( OED). However, John Nott gives a recipe and refers to English mum-makers: it was aged and complex, full of aromatics and flavourings.
Mum was the Belarusian entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, performed in English by Polina Smolova. As the previous Belarusian entry had not finished in the top 10, Smolova performed the song in the semi-final. The song was performed fifth on the night (following Andorra's Jenny with Sense Tu and preceding Albania's Luiz Ejlli with Zjarr E Ftohtë).
