The NWA World Tag Team Championship is the premier tag team title in the National Wrestling Alliance. There have been several versions of this title, but the title recognized by the NWA is the version that is now defended primarily in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. TNA has secured the rights to use the NWA World Heavyweight and NWA World Tag Team Championships until 2014.
The Texas version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship existed from 1957 to 1968, and from 1981 to 1982. This title was recognized by World Class Championship Wrestling and The Funk Dynasty's N.W.A. Western States Sports of Amarillo, TX.
The Minneapolis, Minnesota version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship existed from 1957 until August 1960, when the American Wrestling Association came into existence.
The Central States version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship existed from 1958 to 1960, 1962 to 1963 and then from 1973 until 1979. It was defended primarily in the Kansas City area.
The Vancouver, British Columbia version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship existed from 1966 to 1967, and was the top tag team title in Vancouver-based NWA All Star Wrestling during that period.
The Mid Atlantic version of the "NWA" World Tag Team Championship was created in 1975, and was the version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship recognized by Jim Crockett Promotions, Inc. (later World Championship Wrestling) until 1991, and were also considered to be the main "NWA" tag team titles too.
