Definitions for "Piezo"
The piezoelectric buzzer inside the ipod that has the ability to play high pitched tones. As of yet it is only used to make a "click" noise when moving the wheel or pressing a button. Nilss used the piezo in a very creative way to extract the boot ROM from the flash memory on the 4g models which was essential to figuring out how to run Linux on these new models with a changed archtecture. An ignitor used to light standing pilots or burners without the use of a match. A button is depressed and delivers a blue spark, which ignites the incoming gas.
Acronym for Plumbum (lead) Zirconate Titanate. Polycrystalline ceramic material with piezoelectric properties. Often used as acronym for piezo translator.
A type of speaker driver that creates sound when a quartz crystal receives electrical energy.
A printer head technology that uses micro-electric firing of crystals to control the flow of ink to the substrate. Micropiezo is a smaller version, or unit of measurement, than a piezo.
The preferred technology for an inkjet print head, primarily because of its durability. The technology uses piezoelectric materials located near the ink reservoir of each nozzle. As electric charges are applied, the material vibrates inward and forces a tiny amount of ink out of the nozzle. When it vibrates out, it pulls more ink into the reservoir.
